of the big activities was the defense spending bill. what is the headlines coming out of that discussion? guest: the headline has to do with the national security agency. it was a very close vote. it shows how divided the house -200epresentatives, 217 five, to keep allowing the nsa to collect telephone records. host: explain it to those that are not following it closely. many: i don't imagine too people do not understand it. this is the national security agency that was found to be collecting phone calls. they are randomly collecting phone calls under court orders from a secret court. certainly a lot of people do not want to be listened to. this was all covered by edward snowden, now sitting in the moscow airport. to stop a vote to try this practice, which was authorized by congress as part of the patriot act after 9/11. host: the amendment did not survive? guest: it did not survive. it does not explain how that would happen. host: who supported this amendment and who opposed it? we saw a lot of things that you probably did not see before. we have liberal democrats who did not like the g

to inexpect your glove compartment. >> zimmerman hasn't been in contact with his defense team. david mattingly covered the trial. what was george zimmerman doing in texas? >> we talked to people closest to him and they are not saying at all. they are pointing out security reasons for that. we got a statement from his family a short time ago and it reads our family received death threats on a daily basis. we continue to take our security and privacy very seriously and go to great lengths to ensure our safety and that includes not talking to people about where george zimmerman is. we also received a tweet from his defense team talking about this saying we won't make comments about zimmerman's whereabouts. zimmerman himself was somewhat vague today in talking to the police officer. you can hear some of that exchange on the police video. the officer asked him where he was headed to and zimmerman would not give him a firm answer. security clearly on everyone's mind here for george zimmerman's whereabouts. >> a lot of people obviously as you say might be shocked to know george zimmerman is traveling

killed off the little guy competition. both companies have sizable defense businesses while defense orders in the future may be slowing, there's very little competition for these contracts. hey, we know that from lockheed martin, which reported a marvelous number, and it has a stock that simply won't quit. or northrup grumman like we promoted last night on "off the charts." going higher. the defense names are the strongest stocks in this market this year. sequester? no competition. how about the railroads like csx and union pacific? monster good numbers. the rails, they don't compete. they raise prices routinely when contracts roll over. that is a fantastic business. let's talk health care. united health groups dazzled the dow. why? because these health maintenance companies have to -- well, to look -- i think they stopped competing on price. it's like they carved up the whole country. johnson & johnson posted terrific numbers. patent protection made that possible. no competition. but do you know who has the least competitive marketplace versus the old days? wow, is this a change. a

in cairo and other locations from monday through wednesday. defense minister and army chief abdel fattah al sisi has called for demonstrations on friday. he wants the military to be given a mandate to confront what he calls violence and potential terrorism. >>> a team of paleontologists has dug up a dinosaur fossil in northern mexico that is being described as a rare find. it's the fossilized remains of a five-meter long dinosaur tail, the first ever found in mexico. the paleontologists say the tail is unusually well preserved. it has 50 connected vertebrae and is completely intact. bones believed to be the dinosaur's hips were also found nearby. the researchers say the dinosaur could very well be the giant plant-eating hadrosaur. they lived in the latter cretaceous period about 74 million to 80 million years ago. >> translator: there are not many sites in the world where such discoveries are made. >> the team hopes the discovery will lead to new revelations about dinosaurs. >>> people in eastern thailand are experiencing extreme weather conditions, heavy rain has resulted in flooding. mai

that caused outrage in india and around the world. a defense lawyer said the verdict was delayed until august 5th because of a pending case at the supreme court that seeks to change the legal definition of a juvenile. the defendant was 17 at the time of the attack. he's being tried as a minor on charges including murder and rape. a 23-year-old woman died after she was gang raped and thrown out of a moving bus in new delhi in december. a total of six men are standing trial but only one as a minor. the victim's father says he wants them all to receive the death penalty. if convicted, the juvenile defendant could be sent to a correctional facility for a maximum of three years. people across indiana have demanded a severe punishment for the defendant regardless of his age. >>> militants in pakistan have attacked a heavily guarded compound that houses the office of the intelligence agency. at least seven people were killed. the assault raised new concerns about security. gunmen attacked the regional offices of the interservices intelligence agency in the southern town of sukkur. a security officia
